Jesus Is Our Wisdom Corinthians 1:30 RV, "Of God ye are in Christ Jesus, who was made unto us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification, and redemption." The believers in Corinth were still feeble and carnal, only babies in Christ and Paul wanted them to know at the outset of his teaching that they were in Jesus Christ. Our life depends on the clear consciousness of our position in Christ. But Paul had an additional thought, of almost greater importance. “Of God are ye in Christ Jesus.” He wants us not only to know we are in union with Jesus but that this union is the work of God Himself. We realize that we are united to Christ, but how often have we thought about the work of God in bringing us into that relationship with Christ? When we are in Christ we are resting in the fullness of the Father’s own purpose and work. Jesus said, “My Father is the husbandman: Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." (Matthew 15:13). So it is to the Father that every believer owes his place of security in Christ. The same love with which the Father watched over His beloved Son, watches over every member of His body, everyone who is in Christ Jesus. In uniting us with Christ God made Himself responsible for our spiritual growth and fruitfulness. How would our lives change if we meditated in the truth that nothing could cause us to fail as long as we abide in Christ. We are in Christ Jesus with all of the resources of heaven on our side. Jesus Christ is not only our High Priest and King He is our Prophet who revealed to us the salvation that God has prepared for those who love Him and believe in Him. This Scripture text is making reference to precious gifts we received when we came to Christ; wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. To receive these gifts and be partakers of what He provided we must abide in Him. When we abide in Him we are dwelling in the light of God. Abiding in Him, you have Christ, the wisdom of God, leading and guiding you through life. He is ready to communicate as much wisdom and knowledge that you need for every circumstance in your life. It is this connection between Christ and ourselves that we need to learn to understand better. How often have you asked God for wisdom and understanding that you would know Him better? I’ve often asked for wisdom to know how to pray or understand how to move through a crisis, but I never thought about asking Him for wisdom that I might know Him better. Abiding in Jesus will bring our life in Him to a new level. His love, power and glory will fill us as we abide in Him. Following Him we will not walk in darkness, but have His light to guide us through our daily walk. In Christ, the wisdom of God, provision has been made for our guidance. Our bodies are His temple, our daily life should be a reflection of Him and cause others to glorify God. As all of our concerns are given to Him, we should be guided through them by His wisdom. His light will shine on all our earthly problems and guide us to the solution. Ephesians 2:10, “We are created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” All fear and doubt should be put out of our minds and we should be walking in the assurance that Wisdom from above is guiding us even when we can’t see the way through our problems. Everything we need is clear to the Lord. If we trust in Him and abide in Him we can be sure of His guidance. As you abide in Jesus seek to maintain a quiet spirit as you wait on Him. Don’t move out with your own solution to your problem, but wait on Him to give you the wisdom and knowledge that He promises to give. Jesus has told us that He is our light in the midst of darkness; He is the leader and protector of His own; He is our wisdom and as we abide in Him who is all Wisdom we will receive wisdom from God.
